Yan-Hong graduated with honors, earning a BFA in Dulcimer Performance from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, one of the top five music schools in China.

Ms. Yan-Hong Zhao was born in Liaoning, China. At a very young age, she started to learn the yangchin from her father. After graduation from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, she played with the state orchestra.

Yan-Hong has performed before the leaders of the Chinese government, including President Zemin Jiang, in the Beijing Capital Theater.

Ms. Zhao performed with the world-renowned Conductor Seiji Ozawa.

Yan-Hong has also won several awards for her performances in China, including some of highest offered by the government.

In 1997, Yan-Hong came to the United States to continue her studies.

During this time, she has appeared on Los Angeles Television, Japan Tokyo TV and PBS, and conducted a number of newspaper interviews with the "World Journal" and "China Journal," among others.

Yan-Hong was invited by the America Buddhist Congress to play music for the Dalai Lama. (recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize).
